crewFor the uninitiated, #Pawfleet is a Twitter-based role-playing game (RPG) featuring animals — mostly pets of the humans behind the avatars — as crew of the starships USS Crusher  and USS Riker and assorted villains. Most members of Pawfleet are also #anipals, a Twitter community of pets and animal lovers.

Anipals who wish to join Pawfleet are asked to fill out an application to Pawfleet Academy. Upon acceptance, they will become Pawfleet Academy cadets and go through training where they’ll be familiarized and quizzed on the game, the Crusher, the crew, Pawfleet and Star Trek. Upon graduation — and yes, there’s a graduation ceremony and pawty — the cadet will be a commissioned ensign on the USS Crusher.

There’s also an application for villains.

Pawfleet missions are announced via the @Pawfleet Twitter account and on the web site. Missions generally begin on a Wednesday at 8p ET and conclude 10 days hence on a Saturday at 3p ET, although there are occasional one-day missions at those times. Missions may include villains or may be more of an adventure. Missions may be followed live via the #pawfleet hashtag and/or the @Pawfleet/all-pawfleet list. Completed missions are Storified and posted to the web site. Interested parties can also subscribe to the ship’s logs in the sidebar to the right.

Twitter accounts for individual Pawfleet members may be found on the personnel pages of our Wiki. Villain Twitter accounts are on the Villains pages of the Wiki. A complete list of all Pawfleet and related Twitter accounts can be found here.

Pawfleet also has a fan page on Facebook.

Anyone can come to Pawfleet’s weekly Tuesdays at #TenForward social event, hosted by TenForward’s director, @Noklop_cat, and attended by various members of the crew.

In addition to the #Pawfleet and #TenForward hashtags, activities sometimes use additional tags that can be found here.
